"Indeed," Gotham spoke, slowly walking around the council of nobles, who each cringed when he stepped near them. He then said, "However, I have a new idea for the two of you."
"Master?"
Gotham smiled. His mind hadn't deteriorated in 1,400 years. Even when he was a youth in St. Helena was he a whip smart person; vampirism did little to change him, just making him a little thirstier. He then said, "Kensington, you will find Sylvia and her friend and bring them to me. And you," he pointed to the gaping Mystery, "You will find Count Cas and destroy him. Understand?"
"Yes," they both replied.
"Now go, and do not return until you have finished what I have told you."
The two vampires looked at each other with anger and then were out. Gotham's chuckle was harrowing. He returned slowly to his throne and looked at the nobles. He then said, "This war will be met when Cas has been destroyed."
"So you say, Gotham Ozau," come the raspy voice of Draven Rune, the newest vampire in the council. He was a vampire who was missing his nose and part of his face. He had only been a teenager when he was bitten, dying from a dare. His mother had always told him not to shove things into his nose; firecrackers weren't one of those things. He was found bleeding to death when Gotham had bitten and turned him. Now he was doomed to sit on the council with little power and very little experience.
"What do you mean, Draven?"
"I mean, that nobody with his powers will be destroyed, he has more power than you and Count Vespius put together. He is the ultimate vampire, you know that. And you think that two of our most brainless enforcers can put an end to him? Why?"
"I see you point, perhaps we should kill his beloved before we kill him?"
"And then he would be weakened and more susceptible..." Draven smiled, "Yes, send Kensington to kill her...it will work."
"I know it will," Gotham replied, "I shall send it through my thoughts."
Gotham closed his eyes and sent a train of new orders to Kensington, who took them easily. Now things were going to get better. The war would be winnable.
And Count Cas and Sylvia would be removed from the picture, permanently. Suddenly the door swung open and three Lessers stood before the council, urgent in their mood and with pained expressions on their face. It seemed they had the look of death on them.
Gotham looked at them, “What is the meaning of this?”
“We bring news from Red Chapel.”
“What?”
“A former Ozaukia has formed a force that he says shall take down Count Cas and the Ozau. Yet, he works not for the Assana, but for himself. It is the one known as Superbus.”
“Superbus? The one-toothed vampire?”
The council began to laugh amongst themselves as Gotham struck the floor with his scepter and said, “SILENCE!”
They were quiet and calm. Gotham then asked, “How many are within this force?”
“Since last night…25…plus a new one, a female that is powerful.
